OU Offers Briefing on Obama's Education Reform Initiatives

On May 2, 2009, the Oklahoma Educational Studies Association is hosting a conference on campus titled "Honoring Cultural Wealth." Conference honoree is Jane Roland Martin, professor emeritus of philosophy at U Mass. Conference keynote speaker is Susan Douglas Franzosa, dean of graduate school of allied professions at Fairfield U. General conference from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Special panel session (free and open to the public) on President Obama's proposed initiatives for education reform is from 4:10 to 5:30pm. Panelists include OU Provost Nancy Mergler, OU Prof. of Education William Frick, Assistant Superintendent of Norman Public Schools Carla Kimberling, and OEA executive director Lela Odom. Free, all-day, drop-in, children’s activity corner for children ages 4+ available is provided courtesy of the Oklahoma Mothers and Educators Collaborative Camp Fire Club (space limited).
