Yeah Gov Henry!!! (When did The Flaming Lips become a partisan issue? See vote breakdown)

BREAKING NEWS (thank you, Lori Rasmussen with OETA): She just "tweated" this on Twitter.
Gov. Henry to sign executive order proclaiming "Do You Realize?? as Oklahoma's official state rock song-overriding House.
The Oklahoma House of Representatives voted today on SENATE JOINT RES 24 which would recognize "Do You Realize?" as the official Oklahoma State Rock and Roll Song. It needed 51 votes to pass but only got 48 - short just 3 votes. 39 people voted NO and 14 were "Excused" - ie didn't vote (presumably they were away from the State Capitol Building ).

If this weren't so pitiful, it would be funny. Are Republicans opposed to rock & roll? I'll bet they'd have voted against Elvis Presley, too, because he swiveled his hips, don't ya know. Or was their NO vote some how holding back the scourge of communism? I'm not joking. Someone please start the countdown clock to Tuesday, November 5, 2010 (the next OK House of Representatives election).

  1. I think this could help Democrats in future races. What a stupid thing for them to oppose. Why dont they want the voters vote to count? Oh, of course they are Republicans.
