On July 17, the New America Foundation's Asset Building Program hosted a forum to address the unique challenges women face during these tough economic times. A panel of policy experts discussed financial empowerment strategies that would create asset-building and savings opportunities for women in California.
Speakers included California Assemblywoman Lori SaldaƱa (D-76), Mariko Chang, author of Shortchanged: Why Women Have Less Wealth and What Can be Done About It, Deborah Lindholm, CEO of the Foundation for Women, Claudia Viek, CEO of the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity, Forescee Hogan-Rowles, CEO of the Community Financial Resource Center, and moderator Olivia Calderon, California legislative director for the Asset Building Program of the New America Foundation.
