Breast Cancer Kills More Black Women

A recently completed study funded by the National Institutes of Health and conducted by the University of California, Davis reports black women are 50% more likely than any other racial or ethnic group to die from advanced breast cancer. It had been thought that this might be because fewer black women had access to radiation treatment -- but we know from this study that is not the case. Lack of radiation treatment was found to not be a factor. I.e., black women with breast cancer are less responsive to radiation treatment than others.
